Linked In Answers

Posted by Cathryn in : Miscellaneous , trackback

Linked In is probably the most useful business networking site I use, as it has a good mix of independents, small businesses and corporates, and its a great way to keep track of former colleagues. It does have a downside in that, although you can set up a profile, there’s very little on the site to encourage people to interact beyond their immediate contacts.

LinkedIn Answers is their first foray into that world, and seems to be a good way to get people talking while keeping the site professional and not just imitating all the other bulletin boards and fora out there. Put up a question and see what you get back. Answer a few questions, and show the people 1 or 2 degrees removed from your immediate contacts what a sensible, intelligent person you are.

It all adds to your overall online persona, and has to be a good marketing tool for the independent consultant, as well as a useful way of finding things out.
