More on the Ecademy story
Posted by Cathryn in : Miscellaneous , trackbackWell, its not just me who’s a little unhappy with Ecademy, as posts in The Register, and the rather excellent the world’s leading show.
Having had no explanation from Ecademy after a week, I terminated my membership today. It’s sad, because its a great idea, but customer service does need a little bit of work, methinks.

Absolutely Cathryn
I was banned for no reason by Ecademy last year and have been banging the drum about their shady practices, downrigh lies regarding user numbers and activity and hypocrisy ever since. Glad to see word is getting around
For people that are still members of Ecademy, I would advise that they back up daily:
* content they want to keep
* PM messages
* Their network
* Testimonials
The recent bannings have proven that anyone can be removed at the drop of a hat, having contravened the T&Cs or not.
Keep all your content and contacts somewhere outside of the site - once banned you will have no access to your network, testimonials or PMS, and only a useless XML file of your content.
Hi Cathryn!
Personally, I’m surprised. I’ve had my fair share of spats and fights with people on Ecademy and have had no problems from the management.
However, reading your post today is very fortuitous, since I tried to find the contact details of a guy on Ecademy and his account has been suspended.
Very strange.
Thanks for the advice, Nikki! I’ll be sure to make a copy of my stuff shortly…
