Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, September 2009

After 20 years in corporate IT, most recently as a project and programme manager, I want to spend my energy in a way that feels more worthwhile.   I’ve always been politically Green, and climate change threatens, so its time to do my bit to save the planet.   In September 2009, I started a sabbatical to do an MSc in Renewable Energy at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth.

At the end of the year, I plan to work in renewables, possibly as a consultant, on a startup or using my managerial skills.  For most of my IT career, I was freelance, and got work by networking.  I expect this new field will be much the same, and so I’m using this blog to start to build up an online presence.

I’ll be blogging about renewable technologies, the industry, being a student again, and making this career change.  If you’re interested, I’m also standing as a council candidate in Somers Town and St Pancras, and go to the theatre rather a lot
